Before you start
- You own the Discord server and have the intended Roblox owner account verified and selected in Clan Labs. Administrator or Manage Server permission alone does not satisfy setup ownership.
- Your Roblox group is eligible for setup, and you have an active, available subscription option. Review plan and trial restrictions before relying on a feature.
- The Clan Labs bot is installed. Use a non-owner test member and a permitted rank transition; keep protected ranks out of the test.
Confirm current plan availability and setup requirements before making changes.
1. Connect your Roblox group and Discord server
For this walkthrough, imagine a training group called Training Company. Its staff use Discord to coordinate sessions, while Roblox remains the place where members hold their group ranks. The group and example below are illustrative; screenshots show the public demo's separate sample data.
- Sign in to the Clan Labs dashboard with Discord and verify the intended Roblox account if prompted.
- Open Communities → Set up community, choose Main Community, and select a Discord server you own.
- Search for the Roblox community by name or numeric ID. Check the ID, select an eligible subscription, and review every identifier before creating the community.
- Install the bot if you skipped it. After activation, allow command registration to complete before trying /help or /verify.
Roblox uses the term community in its current interface; many owners still search for group management. Here, both refer to the Roblox community you are connecting. Use the quick-start documentation for checkout, activation, and ownership-specific messages.
3. Define what staff can change
- Review Settings → Permissions and choose who can promote, demote, or change a member's rank. Complete Sync Discord commands if it is shown.
- Open Manage → Ranks and check the rank order, locked ranks, and progression configuration.
- If Roblox ranks should also apply Discord roles, place the bot above the roles it manages, enable role automation, and configure the relevant rank binds.
Locked ranks have additional checks. An ordinary member-promotion permission does not automatically permit moving someone into or out of a locked rank. Keep officer actions restricted to the staff who should make them.
4. Make and verify one permitted rank change
- Have a non-owner test member run /verify and select their account for this community. Record their current Roblox rank.
- Use /promote to move to the next eligible configured rank, /demote for the previous rank, or /changerank for a permitted destination. Check the target account before submitting.
- Read the response, then confirm the resulting rank on Roblox and in the member profile. Review the available audit record.
- If role automation is configured, run /update and check the member's actual Discord roles. Follow the role-sync guide for the detailed mapping test.
The workflow is ready for wider use when the intended staff action, Roblox result, and audit context agree. A Discord role assignment on its own does not change a Roblox rank. Manual rank actions and configured automated progression are separate operations.
Troubleshooting
- The Discord server or Roblox community is unavailable during setup
Check ownership and the selected Roblox account. Refresh the relevant picker, or reconnect Discord when prompted. Do not substitute another community merely to get through setup.
Read the troubleshooting or setup details- A rank action reports Insufficient Permission
Check both the current and destination ranks, the action-specific staff requirement, and any locked-rank restriction. Ask authorized staff to perform the action when necessary.
Read the troubleshooting or setup details- The rank check is unavailable or the outcome is uncertain
Error - Rank check unavailable means no rank change was made. Let the lookup recover. For any uncertain write, inspect the current Roblox rank and available operation records before retrying.

Next steps for your community
Check the test result in your own community before extending the workflow to more members. Demo data helps you explore the interface; it does not perform live Roblox or Discord operations.
