Before you start
- An active Clan Labs community and the bot installed in its Discord server.
- Owner or Discord server owner access for verification setup, and appropriate permission to edit rank binds.
- Discord roles you intend to assign, a non-owner test member, and a verified Roblox account belonging to the expected group and rank.
Confirm current plan availability and setup requirements before making changes.
1. Prepare the Discord roles and bot hierarchy
Training Company uses a Discord role called Trainee for members at its training rank in Roblox. The names are examples: select the exact rank and Discord role your own community uses.
- Create or identify the Discord role for each rank you want to represent. Keep verification and routine rank roles free of administrative privileges.
- Grant the Clan Labs bot Manage Roles and move its highest role above the roles it needs to manage. Keep protected administrator roles above the bot.
- Grant Manage Nicknames only if you also intend to automate nicknames. Role and nickname automation can be configured independently.
A bot with Manage Roles still cannot manage roles above it. Test with a normal member: the server owner and high-ranking staff can behave differently because of Discord's hierarchy.
2. Enable verification and role automation
- Open Settings → Verification as an Owner or the Discord server owner.
- Under Automation, enable Automatically manage roles. Enable Automatically update nicknames separately if needed.
- Choose the Verified and Unverified roles, and a Bypass role only if your policy needs that exception. Select from the roles the bot can assign.
- Save the settings. If you use a channel-based account-linking panel, choose Post panel after saving.
Verification selects which Roblox account represents the person in this community. Reconnecting the community's Roblox Cloud integration does not switch that member's selected account.
3. Map a Roblox rank to its Discord role
- Open Manage → Ranks, find the intended Roblox rank, and choose Update when permitted.
- Under Discord Roles, select the role members at that rank should receive. For Training Company, map its training rank to the Trainee role.
- Choose Save Changes, then review the saved mapping before configuring the next rank.
Use Group Binds when membership or rank in another Roblox community should apply a role in this server. A group bind and a division are different: a division has its own community configuration. Follow the detailed bind documentation for that additional case.
4. Verify and update a test member
- Have the test member run /verify, follow Login to Dashboard if an account must be added, and select the intended Roblox account for this community.
- Run /update. Check Auto Roles reports Success. Auto Nickname may report Disabled when you intentionally leave nickname automation off.
- Inspect the member's actual Discord roles and current Roblox rank. Confirm they received the mapped role and did not receive a role for a different rank.
- Check another member who should not match the mapping before enabling the workflow for everyone.
Role sync maps Roblox information into Discord. Giving someone a Discord role manually is not a Roblox rank change. Use supported rank actions for promotions, then verify the role mapping against the resulting Roblox rank.
Troubleshooting
- Auto Roles reports Failed or a role cannot be selected
Confirm Manage Roles, the bot's position above the target role, and that the role still exists. Review the saved bind and any configured bypass behavior.
Read the troubleshooting or setup details- The member receives the wrong rank role
Check the Roblox account selected for this community, its current group rank, and the Discord Roles mapping on that exact rank. Review additional group binds that could also grant roles.
Read the troubleshooting or setup details- Roles update but the nickname does not
Check whether nickname automation is enabled, Manage Nicknames, the member hierarchy, and the Bypass role. A group nickname or provider lookup issue can preserve the existing nickname.

Next steps for your community
Check the test result in your own community before extending the workflow to more members. Demo data helps you explore the interface; it does not perform live Roblox or Discord operations.
